International Ozone Day - 16 September 2009
National Ozone Unit, NBSM celebrated "International Ozone Day"
on 16th Sep. 2009 in collaboration with United Nations Environment Programme, OzonAction. On this ocassion it organized walk rally starting from Basantapur Durbar Square with the aim to rise awareness for
the protection of the Ozone layer and on the same day it also organized a seminar on International Cooperation in Ozone Layer Protection and Acheiving Ozone Layer Protection with minimum Green House Gas Emission Impact with Special Technical Lecture on the topics listed below.

Nepal Bureau of Standards & Metrology and ASTM International Sign MOU
 
ASTM International and Nepal and the Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology (NBSM)
agreed to a memorandum of understanding in November 2008.
Dr. Sita Ram Joshi, director general, NBSM, and James A. Thomas, president, ASTM International,
signed the MOU, which will assist in the development of Nepal National Standards for health, safety and the environment.

Nepal awarded with "The Montreal Protocol Implementers Award" by UNEP
 We are happy to inform that Nepal has been awarded with "The Montreal Protocol Implementers Award" by UNEP (United Nations Environmental Program) for the year 2007.
The National Ozone Unit of Nepal is honored by this award in recognition of its extra ordinary contribution in the effective implementation of the Montreal Protocol and the global effort to protect the ozone layer.
